About Author

Paul lives in Orlando, Florida with his wife, Amy, and their three Spanish galgos, Hermès, Cinders, and Emerson. They’re Disney Vacation Club Members at five resorts, Disney World Annual Passholders, and always on the lookout for new ways to enjoy and maximize their DVC points. When he’s not at the parks or planning their next trip, Paul loves cooking (big Alton Brown fan), training for Disney races with Amy, and blasting Billy Joel in the background.

We’ve been DVC members since 1994. Lately, we’ve been getting a bit discourage with the money we spend at Disney World as well as all the preplanning that has to be done. So, after our next trip to DW, my wife and I have decided to use our membership as it was intended and seek out other vacation destinations. I hope this helps with the crowd reduction. 🙂

Don’t do it! We converted DVC points to Reservation points to book Disney Paris in 9/2020. We weren’t permitted to go to Paris. Points came back as Reservation points (can’t go back into DVC points) and Disney was kind enough to extend usage to 12/31/2021. Booked a DVC Members Only Cruise for 2021 with the Reservation points. Disney cancelled cruise. Points back into Reservation points again!…Only this time since Disney extended their usage in 2020 they would be no extension again. So now we have Reservation points to use or loose by the end of the year. The family agreed we would go to WDW at Christmas but the Reservation points are only good for hotel rooms not the lovely DVC rooms with kitchen, living room and added space…just a bed and a bath. So disappointed! Will never exchange DVC points again.
