The latest DVC addition to the Walt Disney World Resort is the new Polynesian Villas DVC Tower, currently under construction at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. If you blinked, you might have missed all the exciting construction progress that has already taken place at this new resort. DVC Fan follower Bill McDonald recently took a pontoon boat out on Seven Seas Lagoon and shared some images of the construction progress!
Based on the concept art provided by Disney, we believe that this section of Polynesian Villas DVC Tower represents the center of the building. We will likely see construction begin to expand in each direction from here.
Construction on the tower has reached seven stories in height at this time. We believe this may be as tall as the primary structure gets before changing the design and architecture for the top floors. These upper floors likely represent a feature lounge or restaurant, or Grand Villa accommodations.
The tower’s design is inspired by early concepts of the Polynesian Resort and features a blend of modern amenities and island-style architecture. Each room appears to have a private balcony, and some villas will have stunning views of the Magic Kingdom and the evening fireworks. We previously shared our thoughts and hopes for this new resort when the project was originally announced.
The new Polynesian Villas DVC Tower is projected to open in late-2024. We can’t wait to share more progress of the resort along the way as construction continues!

March 30, 2023Not only is it sad that this peaceful transition between resorts is gone, but that the new taller structure will completely dominate the iconic Polynesian skyline. None of us should be foolish enough to believe that the design was based on early designs for the Polynesian. That is simply a desperate attempt by Imagineers to justify the unexciting design just like they had to find a storyline to explain how Guardians fit in Epcot.

March 30, 2023Personal opinion: Sad to wedge this structure in-between the Poly and GF. That area was beautiful and a peaceful “zone” to sit, walk, read, sit in the sun, and get away from the rush/noise. Having the GF Villas was certainly enough in my opinion in that area. If more room venues were needed, there are so many other undeveloped areas on Bay Lake or the Seven Seas Lagoon waters that could have been used. This was a beautiful area for wedding photos and evening walks. It is a bell that won’t be unrung but this is my after the fact opinion. Also, parks are SOOOO crowded and wait times so long – are more rooms needed???
