Normally at this time of the year we would be talking about how Duke was not surprisingly doing well in the NCAA tournament, or how crazy it was that UMBC knocked off Virginia.
Instead, I’m left wondering how long my precious BoardWalk resort lasts in the DVC Fan Madness Bracket Challenge…
With Round 1 behind us, we are moving into the Elite Eight round of our challenge to crown the Disney Vacation Club Resort we would most like to vacation at this Summer!
In case you missed our earlier rounds, here are the specifics:
In considering how to best set up our bracket challenge we felt that it was both unfair and may become too heated of a topic to debate our “favorite” DVC Resort. In the end, with the help of Corey Fiasconaro we settled for the following question:
“Which Disney Vacation Club Resort would you rather vacation this Summer?”
Over the course of four rounds, we will pair DVC Resorts head-to-head to determine what is the number one Disney Vacation Club destination this Summer!
In setting our initial rankings, we used the average percentages on The DIS Walt Disney World Resort Reviews and Ratings page. We felt this offered a fair ranking since it took into consideration the reviews of hundreds of fans and DVC owners.
Round 1 – The Results
Get ready to have your bracket busted, because some of the results coming out of Round 1 were both surprising and extremely close!
Here are the results from Round 1:
Out of 1,373 votes, Disney’s Beach Club Villas took home the Round 1 victory with 57.3% of the vote. Down goes DVC’s flagship resort!
Beach Club advances to the Elite Eight to take on Copper Creek.
The Selection Committee took some flack in the comments last week regarding this match-up but in the end, Animal Kingdom Villas ran away with this victory taking 843 votes as compared to Aulani’s 484 votes.
Animal Kingdom Lodge advances to the Elite Eight to take on the winner of our next matchup…
I think if there was any huge surprise in the tourney thus far, it was how long Vero Beach fought to stay in. In the end, however, Boulder Ridge came in clutch during the second half and won this match 60.3% to 39.7%.
Boulder Ridge advances to the Elite Eight to take on Animal Kingdom Lodge.
It should come as no surprise to all of you that I’m rooting for Disney’s BoardWalk Villas. Boy, did you all have me sweating bullets this week though! Out of 1,334 votes, BoardWalk edged out the Polynesian by 22 votes, winning 50.8% to 49.2%! I watched this matchup throughout the week and it was a buzzer-beater victory in the end.
BoardWalk Villas advances to the Elite Eight to take on Riviera Resort.
This for me was the shock of the tournament so far! For as many people as there are out there in love with the idea of more DVC at Disneyland, Old Key West still prevailed winning 53% to 47%.
Old Key West advances to the Elite Eight to take on the winner of our next matchup…
Saratoga Springs was no match against the “Mighty Monorails” of Bay Lake Tower. Bay Lake ran away with this matchup, taking 64.4% of the 1,310 votes cast.
Bay Lake Tower advances to the Elite Eight to take on Old Key West.
The “Elite Eight”
This brings us to our Elite Eight match-ups!
Please remember when voting that we are asking you to choose which Disney Vacation Club Resort you would rather vacation this Summer. There are four match-ups this week, so be sure to vote in each one!
Voting for the Elite Eight will end at 11:59 pm, EST on Saturday, March 28th.
Stay tuned over the weekend to the DVC Fan Facebook Group where we will announce the winners that will be advancing to The Final Four!
