Could DVC Ever Add More Club Level Rooms?

Some of the most highly sought-after rooms among the DVC villas are the Kilimanjaro Club Concierge villas at Jambo House.  These are the only club level rooms that can be booked using your DVC Vacation Points, and there are so few available.  Knowing that DVC likes to keep Member feedback in mind when designing new DVC resorts, could DVC ever add more club level rooms?

Each of the Deluxe Disney Resorts already has club level hotel rooms with concierge planning assistance and a lounge that offers light bites and beverages.  Plus, over the past few years DVC has been testing a concierge service for guests in the Three Bedroom Grand Villas and other large accommodations like the Bora Bora Bungalows that offers assistance with booking dining reservations.  While yes, there are clearly capacity constraints to the existing lounges, these are just my own speculative theories.  There haven’t been any announcements, but it’s fun to dream of the possibilities!

Animal Kingdom Lodge

If Paul’s speculative take on a possible DVC expansion for Animal Kingdom Lodge comes to fruition, this would be the perfect spot for additional club level rooms.  Specifically, if more of Jambo House were converted from hotel rooms to DVC Deluxe Studios or even some form of Resort Studio akin to those at at the Grand Floridian, it would be a relatively easy flip for DVC and a boon for fans of Animal Kingdom Lodge who are never able to snag a club level room with its current limited inventory.

Copper Creek

Similar to Animal Kingdom Lodge, Wilderness Lodge seems ripe for more DVC accommodations.  Other than the Cascade Cabins, the Copper Creek villas are made up of former Wilderness Lodge hotel rooms, so it wouldn’t be a huge stretch to see more of them, including some of the existing club level rooms, converted to DVC rooms.  It would be great to have a new booking category added for the club level rooms that have access to the Old Faithful Club.  Some of those rooms have beautiful views of the resort grounds.

Gran Destino Tower

The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness is the first moderate accommodation to become part of DVC, and I have a feeling it will not be the last.  I can see the Gran Destino Tower as a potential moderate DVC.  It is the only Moderate Resort to have a club level lounge, the Chronos Club, and is currently the cheapest means of enjoying a club level room at close to $450 per night instead of about $800 and up for club level rooms at other resorts.  Imagine if this translated to a less point-heavy club level booking category than the Kilimanjaro Club Concierge rooms!

Yacht Club

I feel like I keep bringing this one up, but I still feel like the Yacht Club should eventually have a DVC side.  Turn some of the current hotel rooms into Resort Studios, and give them access to the Regatta Club.  I may be a bit of a point miser, but between the location along Crescent Lake near two theme parks and access to a lounge, I would be willing to spend points on this one.

Membership Magic Beyond

Last but not least is adding a concierge upgrade as a part of Membership Magic Beyond, the paid program for additional direct perks.  This one is probably least likely to happen since it doesn’t account for the capacities of the club level lounges, but I’m pretty certain that such a perk would be an enticing reason for many to add Membership Magic Beyond, even if it meant paying for a higher tier of the program.

These club level ideas may seem far-fetched, but there are some potential benefits for DVC.  Kilimanjaro Club Concierge rooms already go for a premium compared to other rooms at Jambo House and Kidani Village.  They could easily charge more points per night for any new club level rooms that are created, which of course translates into more points to sell.  Even undeclared club level rooms could generate substantial income through cash stays since that seems to be the current business model for actively selling DVC resorts.

Let us know your thoughts: Would you like to use your points for club level rooms, and where do you think DVC could add them?

I would absolutely take advantage of club level! I’d be happy to spend the extra points. You’re right, Paul yacht club needs DVC.

What about adding club level to a normal room? When booking, you should be able to check that you want to add that service. I would be willing to pay a few points more per night if I could add club level to e.g. a studio.
