Disney Vacation Club (DVC) properties are renowned for their impeccable standards and magical touch. However, maintaining this level of excellence requires regular attention and refurbishments. Here is some insight into the upcoming Disney Vacation Club (DVC) refurbishment schedules and why these periodic updates are necessary.

Understanding the Need for Periodic Refurbishments

DVC rooms are periodically refurbished to ensure that they maintain the high-quality standards associated with Disney. These refurbishments not only help keep the properties fresh and up-to-date but also enhance the guests’ overall experience by adding new features and amenities, such as the Murphy-style pull-down beds. Regular refurbishments also play a vital role in addressing any wear and tear, ensuring that every guest enjoys a comfortable and hassle-free stay.

The Difference Between Hard Goods and Soft Goods Refurbishments

Refurbishments in DVC resorts can be broadly classified into two categories: hard goods and soft goods refurbishments.

Soft Goods Refurbishments: These typically occur every seven years. Soft goods refurbishments involve updating items like bedding, curtains, carpets, and other textiles within the rooms. They may also include a fresh coat of paint on the walls or new wallpaper.

Hard Goods Refurbishments: These are more extensive and generally happen every 14 years. Hard goods refurbishments involve replacing furniture, fixtures, and equipment. It may also include significant changes to the room layout, renovation of bathrooms, or kitchen upgrades.

Current DVC Refurbishment Schedules and Anticipated Completion Dates

Here’s a look at the current refurbishment schedule for various DVC resorts, along with their anticipated completion dates:

2024

  • Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort
  • Disney’s BoardWalk Villas
  • Disney’s Vero Beach Resort

These resorts are set to undergo refurbishments in 2024. Whether it’s the charming coastal retreat of Hilton Head Island Resort, the enchanting carnival-themed BoardWalk Villas, or the old-fashioned charm of Vero Beach Resort, each of these properties will get the necessary upgrades to enhance the guest experience.

2025

  • Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village
  • Copper Creek Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
  • Saratoga Springs Treehouse Villas
  • Disney’s Grand Californian Villas
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Jambo House

In 2025, a series of resorts are slated for refurbishments. From the modern aesthetics of Bay Lake Tower and the African-inspired Animal Kingdom Villas to the rustic elegance of Copper Creek and the unique treehouse experience at Saratoga Springs, all these resorts will receive the necessary enhancements to ensure they continue to deliver the accommodation standards Disney Vacation Club is known for.

Financing the Refurbishments: How It Works

The cost of refurbishing DVC properties isn’t just an expense that Disney absorbs. Instead, it’s a carefully planned and budgeted process that is covered by a reserve fund set up in each resort’s annual dues.

Each year, DVC members contribute to this reserve fund through their annual dues. The amount allocated to the reserve fund varies from resort to resort and is determined based on a variety of factors. These can include the age and condition of the property, the extent of refurbishments required, and the cost of materials and labor.

This reserve fund is then used to finance the refurbishments at the scheduled time. It ensures that the resorts are kept in top-notch condition without causing any unexpected financial burden on the members.

It’s important to note that these funds are strictly used for maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of the properties. They ensure that every DVC resort remains a high-quality, desirable destination for its members, year after year.

In essence, when DVC members pay their annual dues, they’re not just covering the costs of their immediate vacations. They’re also investing in the future of their home resorts, ensuring that the magic of Disney is preserved and enhanced for years to come.

Remember, these Disney Vacation Club (DVC) refurbishment schedules are subject to change, but they give a good idea of what DVC members and guests can expect in the coming years. Disney’s commitment to maintaining and improving their properties ensures that no matter when you visit, you’re guaranteed a stay that is nothing short of magical.

It would have been nice to have identified which type of refurbishment each resort was receiving.

Unfortunately Disney did not outline this during the last Condo Association Meeting so we would just be making some educated guesses.
