Disney Vacation Club Members planning to travel to Aulani may soon find it easier to enter the state!

As we previously reported back in September, since reopening, Hawai’i has had strict pre-travel testing and quarantine mandates in place for guests traveling to the islands. Essentially, a negative COVID-19 test is required that has been conducted no earlier than 72 hours before arrival. Don’t get your test results back in time? You can still choose to travel but will need to quarantine until the test results are received.

Safe Hawai’i Pre-Travel Testing Requirements

If you are anything like me, this process seems a bit nerve-wracking, which is why recent news suggests the process may soon be getting easier!

According to Hawai’i News Now, the state is beginning to test a new system that would allow vaccinated individuals to travel without the need for additional testing or quarantine. Dubbed a “Vaccine Passport”, guests traveling to Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, or anywhere throughout the state will be able to freely travel as long as they can show proof that they are vaccinated.

Hawai’i’s Lt. Gov. Josh Green stated that this program would initially roll out to essential workers throughout the state, followed by the general public. If successful, the hope is to include visitors traveling to the islands by sometime between May – July 2021.

One lingering debate and question is how recently someone traveling to Aulani or Hawai’i would need to have been vaccinated to bypass testing and quarantine. According to the CDC’s most recent guidance, those within three months of their vaccination and are asymptomatic would quality. The CDC will continue to update this guidance as they learn more about vaccinated individuals.

Until the State of Hawai’i implements this program, Disney Vacation Club Members planning to travel to Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, will need to follow the state’s pre-travel testing program. It is important to note that Hawai’i will only accept testing from a list of certified trusted testing travel partners.  A full list of these testing companies is available here.
