Why are Grand Floridian DVC Prices Increasing?

As to why this change is happening, our guess is that it may be a strategic decision by Disney. The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian is projected to sell out by next year, and this price increase could potentially slow sales at this property until the new Polynesian DVC Tower or Fort Wilderness Cabins go on sale. Alternatively, it may also serve as an incentive for potential buyers to consider other resorts, such as Riviera or Aulani, which we believe will remain priced at the lower $217 per point tier. With two distinct tiers of direct opportunities, Disney Vacation Club essentially now has a “drop product” to entice potential buyers if they balk at first at the cost of Disneyland Hotel or Grand Floridian.

The news also comes coincidentally at a time when DVC recently elected to buyback a Grand Floridian contract via Right of First Refusal (ROFR). The next round of Direct DVC Sales Incentives are also anticipated to arrive on December 12th.

We are not aware of any additional direct price increases coming to other Disney Vacation Club properties on September 12th at this time.

Price increases for both existing and sold-out Disney Vacation Club properties have historically been the norm for the first of the year. The last significant round of direct DVC price increases came in December 2022.
