The long-awaited Disney Vacation Club refurbishment is finally in full swing at Disney’s BoardWalk Villas, and we recently stopped by the resort to take a look at all the current activity!

The most evident change thus far is right outside the lobby, where the entire right section of the resort is now cordoned off on every floor. If you’re familiar with the layout, you’d know that all BoardWalk View rooms are within this section and are now out of inventory. This also includes a majority of the Garden/Pool view rooms and those with a picturesque view of the Village Green area. The refurbishment of Disney’s BoardWalk Villas is a significant undertaking, and this appears to signify that they will tackle the refurbishment in two distinct phases.

Visually, from the resort’s exterior, it’s evident that early prep work is in progress. Every balcony door and window is shielded with a plastic film, hinting at the internal work that might be getting underway soon. The Boardwalk DVC Preview Center is also closed and under wraps at the moment while it undergoes its own refurbishing magic.

Another noteworthy observation was near the Luna Park Pool, where scaffolding has ascended. This can only mean one thing: exterior renovations are on the horizon. Whether it’s a fresh coat of paint, structural enhancements, or other embellishments, it’s evident that Disney plans to bring a fully rejuvenated look to the BoardWalk Villas.

However, despite the anticipation of all these changes, the actual resort seemed unusually calm during our drop-in. There’s little to no noise, and the hustle and bustle one would expect from an active construction site is absent, suggesting that the resort is in its early preparation stages of the overhaul. As we alluded to in our recent BoardWalk Construction Update video, the parking lot is indeed being used as a staging area, and shipping containers now occupy most of the far side of the lot, with easy access to the Villas.

The highly anticipated full refurbishment of BoardWalk Villas is set to begin this fall and continue through next spring. The rooms will receive updated bathrooms, new artwork, select furniture, and refreshed flooring. The renovations will provide a contemporary feel, modern amenities, and keep the Boardwalk’s classic charm.

A small silver lining for those staying in the coming months: The BoardWalk Villas currently offers a serene environment, quite contrary to its usual lively atmosphere. If you enjoy lower crowds and don’t mind a little construction noise during the daytime hours, now might be an opportune time for a visit. The pool was surprisingly empty for a warm September afternoon!

The upcoming months promise a transformation that we are all eager to witness. We’ve got several BoardWalk Villas reservations already secured for early 2024 so that we can hopefully give you all an exciting look at the newly refurbished BoardWalk Villas once they are revealed.
