Perhaps the biggest surprise from today’s reveal is just how heavily the lobby draws inspiration from Pocahontas.
Disney says guests will encounter a shimmering fiberoptic river flowing through portions of the lobby floor, while overhead hangs an elaborate blown glass installation inspired by “Colors of the Wind.” Hundreds of suspended glass leaves appear to float through the atrium, creating movement and color throughout the space.
It’s an artistic direction that feels both bold and understated.
Rather than relying on obvious character displays or oversized statues, Disney is leaning into the film’s themes of nature, water, wind, and changing seasons. It’s the kind of storytelling longtime Disney resort fans often appreciate because it rewards guests who recognize the inspiration without overwhelming those who don’t.

As someone who enjoys spending time at Deluxe Resort lobbies long after check-in is over, this is exactly the type of space I hoped Lakeshore Lodge would deliver. It looks like a place where guests will want to grab a coffee in the morning, relax between park visits, or simply sit for a while and take in the atmosphere.
The lobby doesn’t appear designed to impress guests for five minutes.
It looks designed to become part of the vacation.
What This Means for Disney Vacation Club Members
With construction continuing toward a projected summer 2027 opening, today’s reveal offers another glimpse into Disney’s vision for what could become one of the company’s most distinctive Disney Vacation Club resorts.
The emphasis on nature, authentic materials, artistic storytelling, and immersive views suggests Lakeshore Lodge isn’t simply borrowing ideas from neighboring Wilderness Lodge. Instead, it’s establishing a personality all its own.
